Decatur Central wins the IHSAA 4A State Championship

IHSAA 4A State Final

The Lake Central Indians took on the Decatur Central Hawks for the 4A State Championship.

The first three innings both teams were having a tough time getting anything going offensively.

In the bottom of the fourth, Decatur Central was able to get on the board. With two outs, Peace and D Cravens singled putting runners at first and third. Ivey came up next and was hit by a pitch. H Cravens walked bringing home the first run of the game.

In the sixth inning, Lake Central was able to manufacture two runs. The inning started with walks to Mathas and Carra. Late in the inning, Platusic singled to right bringing home two runs.

Decatur Central would respond in the bottom half with four runs. Ricketts highlighted the inning with a 2 RBI double. The Hawks scored four runs on 2 hits and 2 errors.

The Hawks would close out the top of the seventh and take a 5-2 victory. Decatur Central would become the IHSAA 4A State Champion.
