New Palestine wins the IHSAA 3A State Champion

IHSAA 3A State Final

The South Bend St. Joseph Indians played against New Palestine for the IHSAA 3A State Championship.

In the third inning, SB St. Joseph got on the board with a run. Hannah Goerke started the inning with a single to center. She was driven in on a RBI single from Megan Welsh.

New Palestine responded in the bottom half of the third. The inning started with a single from TeTe Hart. After a few batters, Emily O’Connor hit a RBI single to tie the game. Michaela Jones would add on two more runs with a double. The dragons would take a 3-1 lead.

Neither team would score in the final four frames.

South Bend St. Joseph scattered 5 hits but could not produce a comeback off of Mackenzie Jones. The New Palestine pitcher threw the entire game allowing only 1 run and striking out 7.

New Palestine would win with a score of 3-1 to become the 3A State Champion.
