Speedway wins the IHSAA 2A State Championship

IHSAA 2A State Final

The Speedway Sparkplugs met up with the Bremen Lions for the IHSAA 2A state championship today.

In the second inning, Speedway got on the board with three runs. Kendall Short started the inning, getting hit by a pitch. Paige Rush then doubled to left. A fielder’s choice scored the first run. Later in the inning, Emma DeVault single to score two runs.

Speedway would add two more runs to extend their lead 5-0 in the fourth. Kendall Short started the inning again this time with a walk. Pagie Rush singled to put runners on first and second. The runners would advance on a wild pitch and Lexi Laffin grounded out and scored a run. The Sparkplugs would add one more run in the inning.

Bremen had a tough time getting anything going offensively against Speedway. In the circle for Speedway, Kaiah Fenters went 7 innings, allowing 1 hit, and striking out 10.

Speedway would win the IHSAA 2A State Championship 5-0 over Bremen. Congratulations to both teams on a great season.
