Today, July 19 the St. Charles Silverhawks 16u – RM took on the Wheatland Spikes 16u – Holloway.
Through the first three innings, both teams had a tough time getting anything going offensively.
In the top of the fourth, the Silverhawks were able to score two runs. A walk to Kaylie Humes and a defensive mishap put runners on the corners to start the inning. Allison Masulis would send a sac fly to left bringing in the first run of the game. An RBI single form Sami Koss would make the score 2-0.
In the top of the fifth, St. Charles was able to score another run making the score 3-0. In the bottom half, the Spikes answered with two runs cutting the lead to one. Kyra Swartz led the inning off with a home run. Next batter, Noelle Chaney would single and be later driven in by a single by Cheyenne Woerman.
In the sixth, the Silverhawks would extend their lead scoring two more runs in the inning. Danielle Trumbo got the inning started with a single and was followed by a double from Kaylie Humes to put runners on second and third. Megan Adamek would hit a 2 RBI double to left, giving her team a 5-2 lead.
