New Lenox, IL – The Marist Redhawks took on the Providence Catholic Celtics met up on Wednesday afternoon. The Redhawks would win 13-0 as they collected 16 hits and pitcher Angela Zedak allowed only one run.
Marist would come out swinging with a four-run first inning. Easton Lotus and Kali Case started the game with back-to-back singles, followed by a walk issued to Angela Zedak. Cassie Lindmark would bring in the first run of the game with a single to center. A batter later, Gabby Altobelli singled to left scoring two. The Redhawks would add their final run of the inning on a single from Kelly Walinski.
In the second inning, Marist would expand their lead to 5-0, with a solo shot to right center off the bat of Angela Zedak.
The Redhawks would strike again in the top of the third inning. Kelly Walinski singled to start the inning, followed by two more singles from Madison Garofalo and Easton Lotus. Kali Case would then deliver a single to left, making the score 6-0.
Lexi Voss would start the fourth inning with a walk, and Cassie Lindmark followed with a single. Marist would take a 7-0 lead as they scored on an error.
Marist would score their final six runs in the top of the fifth inning. Three singles started the inning coming off the bats of Garofalo, Lotus, and Case. Angela Zedak would hit a hard ground ball that found its way to the fence scoring three runs. The final three runs of the game came on a wild pitch, a single from Blaire Browne, and a sac fly off the bat of Anna Lipinski.
Providence struggled offensively scattering only one hit and leaving six runners on base throughout the game. Marist’s pitcher Angela Zedak threw all five innings allowing only one hit and striking out six.
